Episode 13 – Joy Poole: Coach for high-performing and emerging female leaders

Joy Poole

Joy Poole is a coach who supports high-performing and emerging female leaders to hone their authentic leadership style and write the next brilliant chapter of work and beyond.

Throughout her 20 years in tech, consulting, sales and executive leadership, Joy battled with debilitating cases of perfectionism and Imposter Syndrome. Inspired by a coaching experience of her own, she developed an understanding that unlearning those mental habits and getting crystal clear on what it is that you truly want is entirely possible and absolutely essential for finding fulfilment and success – however you define it.

Joy is a Certified Professional Coach, trained by the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching. She is also a Master Practitioner of the Energy Leadership Index and a Transitions Dynamics Specialist.   She holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and Executive Programme certificates from the University of Oxford and the London School of Economics.

Besides coaching, speaking and entrepreneuring, other activities that fill Joy up include yoga, sailing, travel and generally trying new things as much as possible.  Joy, her husband and their 7-year old son call both London and ‘Pure Joy’ (their sailboat) home.

Joy’s 3 mindset messages:
  1. There is a powerful difference between an Intention and a Goal
  2. When what you want is bigger, clearer, brighter than what you fear, courage emerges
  3. Perfectionism and Procrastination go hand in hand
The Food

Joy loves all food, and so I was given a hard decision to choose a meal for her. I went for sesame grilled tuna with asian cucumber salad and brown rice.

I used this recipe for cucumber salad and this recipe for searing tuna. The dish is very healthy and full of flavour!
